Hi, I'm Chris. I'm from Copenhagen, live in Portland, and I've been traveling with one bag for over a decade. I started doing it to avoid checked luggage fees. Somewhere along the way it changed how I think about most things. I suppose, what began as a practical way to travel eventually became a philosophy: carry less, experience more.
Over the years, I've traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia while living and working abroad. My background in UX and product design taught me to study how people interact with products. Photography taught me to notice details. Travel gave me a reason to put both into practice.

What I've Learned
More than a decade of traveling with one bag has taught me that the best products don't stand out because they're new—they stand out because they quietly become part of everyday life.
That's why I spend months living with the gear I write about. A product reveals far more during ordinary days than it ever will on a weekend trip.
Carry On Club is where I document those observations, along with stories from the road and conversations with the people designing the things we carry.
